Tour Description

Addo Travel Center offers Cultural township tours in the Port Elizabeth Area. These popular tours exhibit the modern and the old accommodation structure and infrastructure in townships with a flash back to apartheid south Africa which resulted in the group areas act and land separation policies. The tour also touches heavily on the culture of the Amaxhosa tribe , the Khoisan people, Anglo Boer war history and the famous frontier wars.

The tour allows tourists to mirror back 150 years ago and decade by decade come to the present date.

During the tour tourists will get first hand experience in engaging with interesting local Xhosa tribe artists both the old and the young.

Some high lights of the tour are a visit to a kindergarten, an african hair salon, traditional healers, a township pub, community groups manufacturing arts and crafts, playing traditional games with some elders and for the more energetic getting involved with a soccer game in the street with youngsters.
